3: Interlude
|
GM Comments and Notes
I had thought we'd get to the interesting phase in this session but it wasn't to be, and James is away next week so things will have to wait a couple of weeks.
There are a couple of things to note from this weeks session:-
-
I'm not going to record things relating to characters that happen in 'private', so what happens when Five has a 'fainting episode' nor what the Android discussed with Two.
-
Two does need to act more like the Captain! This does mean delegating jobs to other parties and not necessarily going on 'Away Missions' herself.
Interlude
After a very quick recap of where we were, discussion resumes over the vault and what is does or doesn't contain. Five doesn't want anything to do with it because she thinks it contains the 'Razza', the alien mercenaries/soldiers referred to by the Miners. She also thinks the guns are to equip the Razza. There is a whole raft of speculation that if the vault does contain these aliens then there must be a way for themselves as the crew to control them.
Three again asks teh Android about the vault, and again she tells them she has no idea of what's in it, or how to access it. It's not coupled to the ship systems other than a direct power coupling to the reactor, which means to shut power off to it she would have to shut the Reactor down. Six also states that he's pretty sure that even if they turned the power off, which would deactivate the shield, the doors (which are heavy duty blast doors) would remain shut if not locked.
Two decides that she needs to know what's on here ship one way or another. Three thinks that it may be possible to blast their way into the vault but nodoby else thinks that's a good idea at all.
Eventually Two and Six go and talk to Five and persuade her to at least come and take a look at the vault and see if she can open it, but not necessarily open it. Fate does intervene at this point with a natural 100 on the dice which means she has no clue how to open it. When pushed on what she may need to open it she envisages a hand held device which would plug into the access port under the control panel, at which point she faints. This curtails the Vault episode.
Speculation then turns back to the crates of weapons and why they have them. One does comment that 'If they are the Razza, and the Razza work for Ferris as enforcers/fixers, then maybe they have the guns because they Ferris knew about the shipment and they took them from Rothgar, or at least hijacked the shipment.' A tally of current stocks is made, and the decision to at least give part of the shipment to the Miners is made.
As the Marauder is being loaded with the 4 crates it can carry, which does require manual loading as the Ships loader cannot actually get through the rear airlock door of the Marauder, the Android requests to speak to Two.
[GM Note: There were two elements to this one of which was character specific and the other was a GM hint..]
After speaking to the Android Two delegates leadership of the away mission to One, saying she's now going to remain on board. Three asks the Android to keep an eye on Five because he doesn't trust her not the hijack the ship, whilst they're on the planet.
[GM Note: I can't possibly comment on whether Five can actually do this or not of course]
Eventually the Marauder departs for the planet with Six at the helm,
and One, Three, and Seven as escort. On the flight down to the planet,
Three again contacts the Android to ask some questions. He asks
how may stars there are within range. She says there are 12 with in
20ly [GM Note: correction on distance]. He then asks if they have
enough fuel to reach them. She confirms that they do. He then asks
about the Mikei Combaine and if she can gain any sort of leverage to
engage them against Ferris in the current scenario. The Android say she
has no idea what he's asking. He then rephrases the question and asks
how close the nearest Mikei outpost is. The Android says 18 hours by
FTL [GM Note:This is a correction from what I said at the time.. I
din't have the relavent section of my notes to hand.] He asks if she
can plot a course to there and if they have enough fuel to get there
which she confirms that they do. He then decides to add Two to
the conversation. His thinking is that the only way to combat Ferris is
by involving another Mega Corp, Mikei Combine, because they're likely
to be the only people who have the power to stop Ferris. How to get
them to help he has no idea.
From a GM perspective it is then necessary to recap the situation as they discovered it from the last session. The planet the Miners occupy, which they have the legal rights to, is the only habitable planet in the system. Ferris Corp want the planet because without the planet they can't mine the Asteroid Belt. Megacoprs like Ferris do not share!.
We leave things with the shuttle touching down in the landing area.
