Adventures In Role Play

Disjunction (Trailer)

Released 21st December 2012: Length 5 minutes - Actual Game Play:

A girl of Asian extraction, sporting a tall midnight blue tipped in white Mohican, walks into room towards a huge video screen. She's dressed in a Black T-Shirt and  a belted knee length skirt which appears to be a mix of a black chainmail type material and lamella plates. The t-Shirt sports the Disjunction Logo (A set of 3 rings at 90deg to each other arranged in 3D inclined at 30deg to X and Z planes) on the background of a phoenix. Underneath her skirt she wears what appear to be black leather trousers and some sort of armoured knee high boots.

The camera follows her as she walks towards a cantilevered glass plate illuminated from beneath. Sitting on the glass plate is a slimline shaped rectangular black box (Black Shadow Cyber Console) and what appears to be a high tech fighter pilot's helmet. She picks up the helmet and places it on her head, snapping down the visor as she does so.

As the camera angle changes the words Disjunction, built from a futuristic looking chequer plate appear, and underneath the word "initializing". The girl pulls on a pair of what appear to be armoured gauntlets and the word "initializing" melts and flows into a pool at the base of the screen. In an explosion  a Phoenix erupts from the pool and flies through the screen at the viewer, leaving just a set of 3 3D metallic rings counter rotating inside one another against a background of a dark night sky.

A hightech black pilots chair rises from the floor behind the girl and she sits. She then speaks one word  - "Launch". The rings spin to a blur and you(as the viewer) appear to be falling through a vortex landing in what appears to be a golden tube. The avatar that you now see, appears much as the girl was, except now she is now wearing an armoured jacket over her T-Shirt, has a sword on her back and some form of high tech pistol at each hip.

As the "door" of the tube slides back the view changes to 1st person and you walk into some sort of futuristic foyer. Ahead of you appear to be some form of transit tubes or elevators. You turn left and heads towards what appears to be a packed bar. You scan the room before ascending to an upper level,  approaching a table at which 3 other people are sat. "Time to go". The three look up.

One says "You saw the Evolved declaration?"

"Yes, that's why we're leaving. One of their destroyers docked before I left last night. I want to be out of here before they're online."

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see.. to many ears in here"

The camera switches back to 3rd person. Her compatriots stand and the 4 head towards an exit. The camera lingers and tracks across the bar. 2 Disreputable looking guys get up from their table. One appears to speak to thin air.. they’re leaving, get us an undock.

The scene shifts back to the girl and her compatriots as they enter one of the elevators "Dock 26 Platform 12".

The scene shifts again, a view of the transport tubes, traversing a huge dock lined with ships. As the tube traverses the dock the camera zooms back in until we're once again in 1st person. You exit the transport tube and cross to what appears to be an airlock.

You place your head in-line with a retinal scanner. The airlock opens, the camera shifts back to 3rd person and the 4 enter what appears to be the inside of a ship, one heads left, one enters an access tube and descends, and the girl and her compatriot turn right, pass through a heavy airlock onto what appears to be a ship bridge.

She seats herself in one seat whilst her compatriot takes the other. Body cages fold down clamping them in place. She begins to press "buttons" on the glass console about her whilst pulling on a pair of gloves similar to the ones she put on in the room. Status screens on the panels in front of her begin updating.

"Salvage Trader Solaris requesting priority undock"

After a couple of seconds delay a voice says "Undock granted, next available slot in 7 seconds"

"External view, port, forward, lateral, ventral" 3 sections of the wall she's looking at resolve to external views of the hanger, the centre section spilt 1/3 to 2/3 looking above and in-front of the ship.

After a few seconds the scene begins to move as the ship undocks and moves towards a stream of ships. As it approaches the stream it becomes clear it's heading for a partial gap behind what could be a large freighter and some sort of large military vessel. The two ships already occupy the majority of the space, and shift slightly in position in response to the approach of the trader.

The girl swears.. "read outs?"

Her compatriot answers, "Scania class freighter, Yggdrasil conglomerate registered 2 days ago, you know what the other one is"

"Yes, damn them, I'd hope we'd get clear before they undocked"

"Options?"

"I'm thinking, show me our undocks"

The screen changes to show a schematic of the system, centred around the space station, several points around the system are highlighted. "Okay, commence plot for Yankee 7, offline the aft and port shield boosters and both autocannons. Bring both auxiliary dampers, overdrive boost, and the warp boost online, and start charging the jump."

"You're the boss, we'll get flagged if you're going to do what I think you're going to do"

"I know, Sven, Yalic make sure you're strapped in, I need as much boost in the forward, starboard and lateral shields as you can muster, and I need 2 seconds of boost thrust on my mark in 15, 14…."

Her countdown appears to mirror a red undock counter in the bottom LH edge of the screen which has now shifted to a similar view as previous, except the centre is now split 2/3 forward and 1/3 looking below the ship. The forward view is 90% filled by the view of the drive from the freighter ahead.

On mark the ship lurches forward the view of the drives rapidly filling the screen, the ship appears to slew sideways and down, then rapidly bounce away from the freighter, displays change from green to pale red, klaxons sound. A voice says "Solaris you are in violation of undock protocol. A fine of 15 million credits has been imposed. You have 14 days to pay".

The Trader appears to accelerate away from the station towards empty space before the screen turns into a violet spiral for 15 seconds, then returns to a view of empty space again.

"Compute for the Vedic Gate South 5 access. Status report"

"Minor structural damage, Starboard shield is down to 17%, Forward Shield to 23%, Lateral shield to 43% and Ventral to 67%, jump available in 23 seconds, no signs of pursuit"

"Good.. They'll be stuck until the freighter gets out their way.. they can't risk the same manoeuvre without destroying the freighter"

"How come?"

"Assuming he's new out the box he'll have standard configured shields. Using him to kill our forward momentum and bounce us down below the station, will have wiped most of his aft shields. That destroyer has about 70% more mass than us, so if he tries the same he'll just plough into the back of him, and detonate his drives."

The view of space starts to turn and the ship appears to start moving again, gaining speed before the screen flashes and then displays a moving tunnel effect. The scene then cuts..

"Jump exit in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1".

The view of space returns. A huge structure appears in the distance. The ship heading, like numerous others, towards what appears to be some sort of tube array aligned perpendicular to it.

"Status .."

"Scanning .. shit"

"What?"

"There's an Evolved Interdictor on the gate.."

"Plot it.."

"Has he seen us?"

"Most likely. Won't do him any good, We're not in-bound and we'll be in range of the gate sentries before he can get to us"

"And if he decides to jump?"

"He can't from there .. let's just hope he hasn't got company on the other side.. we need to flag it to intel in any case."

The scene cuts again..

"Jump exit in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1".

The view of space returns. A huge space station appears directly ahead in orbit around a huge planet, possibly a gas giant.

"What the f***. That wasn't on the brief."

"Incoming..."

"Brace, Brace, Brace"

The ship appears the shudder as it banks away from the station towards a large moon.

"I'm going to put us behind the moon. We should be okay there"

"What are we here for?"

"You’ll see, the presence of that station complicates things.. might work to our advantage though, assuming they use the same approach we did."

"Won't we be blind behind the moon?"

"Good point, drop a survey drone as we pass the moon."

The ship flies in behind the moon..

"Now What?"

"We wait"

The scene cuts again..

A ship appears in space, racing towards the space station then veers away toward the moon, taking damage from several missiles as it passes the station. Thescene cuts back to the Solaris

"Sven talk to me"

"Ventral shield reading 34%, port 43, forward 56, 4 forward blasters, 1 Ventral and 1 Lateral"

"Target the ventral shield, we’ll go in underneath, fire on my mark"

Cut to Mizzurian Expo Screen .. May 2nd - May 5th 2013
