The Keep of the Thirteenth Hour

Heroes of the Hour - Alfred

Alfred's Diary

Chapter x+y+10 - Walking

I seem to have been traveling a long time. As I shadow walked along (I'm beginning to get used to this), I realized that although Ygg said it was about 3 days travel, this really meant 3 days in Amber. That means about 12 days here.

At least I should still be safe from the demons though. Allagahn trumped me to say that he had come across a group and asked me for help. I didn't really have any weapons at the time, and only one spell racked, so I suggested that I wasn't really going to me much use.

Anyway, I'm fed up going up against silly odds. It would be nice to be sure of something for a change.

I suggested to Allagahn that he just leave them - we don't want to risk ourselves. I don't know if he'll follow that advice.

As I traveled along, racking more spells when I rested, the landscape begin to change. After a while it got hillier and rockier. Eventually I came to a huge ruined tower, surrounded by a wall. The was strong magic here once, but I suspect that it's long gone now.

I continued on my way and soon found myself in a strange forest. Very dark and slightly unnerving, as if it was listening to me.

I continued into the forest and came to a clearing. There was a very strange tree at the other end, but I really didn't expect it to bend down to me and say "Ygg?".

I explained my mission - Ygg was in danger and would it help. It seemed quite happy to come along (well, as far as I can read the emotions of a tree). We also picked up others, after walking further into the forest, although I did have to wait for the tree to explain things in that long, drawn out talking that I've associated with Ygg.

But I do have some warriors. About 80. Each 50-60' tall. That must help.

Unfortunately I have to walk back with them - I can't open a trump gate that big.

By the time I get back, Ygg's saplings should be ready. It also said that the Chalice would take 21 cycles light and dark to make. I hope that means local days and not Amber days otherwise we might be in trouble.
