The Keep of the Thirteenth Hour

Heros of the Hour - Allagahn

Allagahn's Diary

Chapter 11 - I lost my paddle! What's that smell?

We pooled all our knowledge at Carnelian and decided the best plan of attack was to try and find a girl called Coral, who had apparently had the Jewel of Justice wedged into her eye. We agreed that it was definitely required by Brand and so we should at least do our best to find her and help protect it. It seems like the majority of the other artefact her requires to release Rodian are already in his possession.

I hellrode a group of us away from Carnelian, so that we could trump to her when the 13th hour arrived. Unfortunately when the time came, all we could determine was that she was probably dead. We then tried Corwin as our backup plan, but he wasn't answering calls.

We headed back to Carnellian and decided to walk the pattern to take us to Coral's body. A bit of a risk, but we didn't have a lot of choice. We found her in the basement of a house, minus a head. We found the remains of the head in a bathtub upstairs, with damage around the eye (coincidence???). From the looks of it Brand came in there and went a bit nuts with a sword, there were quite a few bodies in the house and signs of Abyssal powers having been used.

Coral must have used the Jewel of Justice to make this shadow as safe as possible, pattern sight has shown us it's in a pretty fast time stream where no technology, pattern logrus or trump will work. It'll be interesting to see how we get out of here!

There was the thought that she might have faked her own death to mislead people (probably Brand), I don't really buy this as it's pointless to mislead Brand into thinking she's been killed by Brand. He's mad, not stupid!

One of the most curious things is that there appears to have been a child in the house, which is conspicuously absent. Either Brand has taken it away, which may indicate it’s of some importance, or it has escaped his wrath, in which case we should search the current shadow for it.

I have been whiling away my quiet hours reading chapters on Pattern from the book of Selheim. I think I can learn a lot from it.
