The Keep of the Thirteenth Hour

Heroes of the Hour - Charity

Charity's Diary

Lucifer rising

Our minds connected in the darkness of the Abyss; Habakkuk had indeed sensed the Jewel and also Brand and a few of his cohorts. Damn! So Coral was dead after all. Poor bitch.

Habakkuk was incapable of sending me in the same direction that Brand took, so I exited the Abyss at Elysium, picked up Orac, my sharp sword and ascended the tower to wait for the others, only to find them already there. It seems traversing the void isn't as fast as I had assumed it was. Damn again, there goes any advantage I may have thought I'd have over them. Perhaps training in crossing the void will be to my advantage in the long run.

During my passage they'd yet again been talking and reading and it seemed that yet again they hadn't come to any decision. Nevertheless the debate continued a little while after our merry band was reunited.

Then suddenly we seemed to come to a decision. I'm not sure how, but it was probably one part desperation one part accident. We would carry on with the original plan, to rewrite the Amber pattern, and hopefully make it more difficult for Rodian to re-enter our universe. First we needed to catch the Unicorn - or Lucifer by it's other (True) name.

The Über-trump at Deirdre's tower seemed the easiest route, yet again we had to wait until the 13th hour had begun, and everyone apart from me dived through the portal (held open by me) only to promptly be attacked by Chaos demons. It seemed to me that it was a hard fought battle, with all of them receiving serious damage, but ultimately they were successful. I doubt my occasional interference of remote archery / sword fighting turned the tide of fortune, but I'd like to hope it helped a little bit.

Alfred and Allaghan needed varying degrees of first aid, once administered to, they returned to Amber to continue the ritual. My contact broken, I could only watch as the events unfolded before me.
